William Hancock is a Founder and Managing Principal at Brazos Residential (formed in January 2022), a vertically integrated real estate private equity firm that owns and operates over 5,000 multifamily units across the Sun Belt. Brazos Residential and Brazos Residential Management combined employ over 160 individuals. With nearly 15 years of experience in the multifamily sector, Will and his partner (James Roberts) have built a full-cycle investment platform focused on sourcing, acquiring, and operating value-add & opportunistic real estate. William co-leads the firm’s overall investment strategy as well as leads the firm’s capital markets strategy, overseeing the internal placement of debt and equity relationships across acquisitions and existing portfolio assets.
Before co-founding Brazos, William was a Senior Vice President | Senior Director in NorthMarq’s Mortgage Banking Division, where he structured and originated over $7 billion in capital placements, including agency, balance sheet, bridge loans, joint ventures, and preferred equity. His capital markets expertise remains a key driver of Brazos’ ability to scale quickly and execute complex transactions with speed and precision.
Earlier in his career, William held roles at Wellington, a real estate investment firm, where he gained experience across acquisitions and asset management in multifamily, office, retail, and industrial. He began his real estate journey at Myan Management, where he developed ground-level operational insight working directly on property management teams.
Throughout his career, William has been involved in the capitalization and management of over 30,000 multifamily units and brings a deep understanding of the entire investment lifecycle — from deal sourcing and underwriting to financing and execution.
William earned a BS from Texas A&M University in Agricultural Leadership and Development with an emphasis in Economics. He lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife and two daughters.
